How Reimbursements Work

HNGRY exists to help make discipleship simple, intentional, and repeatable.

How HNGRY works

HNGRY is an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit that reimburses meals tied to intentional discipleship. Members use HNGRY to schedule gatherings, coordinate meeting times and locations, invite participants, track attendance, and submit reimbursement documentation.

The platform exists to remove financial barriers so that believers can consistently break bread, build relationships, and make disciples who make disciples.

Scheduling gatherings through HNGRY

Members can use HNGRY to:

  • Schedule discipleship gatherings
  • Coordinate meeting times
  • Coordinate meeting locations
  • Invite participants
  • Track attendance
  • Submit reimbursement documentation

How reimbursements are funded

HNGRY is funded through charitable donations from individuals, churches, and ministry partners who believe discipleship should be practical, relational, and accessible. These donations fund approved discipleship meal reimbursements.

Itemized receipt requirement

Reimbursements require an itemized receipt that clearly shows:

  • Merchant name
  • Date
  • Purchased items
  • Total amount

Attendance verification

Participants may be asked to verify attendance through HNGRY. Attendance verification helps ensure donor funds support genuine discipleship activity.

Review process

Every reimbursement request is reviewed before approval. HNGRY seeks to steward charitable donations responsibly while removing barriers that prevent discipleship from happening.

Reimbursement limits

Current reimbursement guidelines:

  • Up to $15 per attendee
  • Up to 8 attendees per gathering
  • Maximum reimbursement of $120 per gathering

Approval remains subject to review and available funding.

Reimbursement eligibility

Reimbursement eligibility is currently limited to same-gender discipleship relationships.

HNGRY is designed to encourage biblical discipleship and is not intended to subsidize dating relationships, social outings, or entertainment expenses.

Designed for multiplication

HNGRY exists to help believers make disciples who make disciples. Reimbursements between the same two participants are generally eligible for up to 52 gatherings — roughly one year of weekly discipleship meetings.

After that point:

  • Members may continue meeting.
  • Members may continue using HNGRY.
  • Members may continue scheduling gatherings.
  • Additional reimbursements for that discipleship relationship are generally no longer eligible.

The purpose is to encourage multiplication and investment in new discipleship relationships.

Stewardship

Every reimbursement request is reviewed before approval. HNGRY seeks to steward charitable donations responsibly while removing barriers that prevent discipleship from happening.

The reimbursement program exists to encourage discipleship, not create dependence on reimbursement funding.
